The Villa

The Major Cottage is a waterfront cottage with a deck on two sides of the cottage overlooking Burridge Lake. There is additional 400 sq ft of decking at the mid-level point between the cottage and the waterfront. The property is extremely private from the point of putting your foot on the deck. Watch the wildlife go by or watch the sun dance on the water.

A beautiful 2-acre property with hot and cold running water, power, fully furnished (refurbished in 2004), and supplied with linen (if requested). Options include a boat, barbecue, tent, and drinking water dispensed from a cooler. Next door, also for rent, is the Colonel Cottage which sleeps 4 comfortably. There is a common patio area for sharing, if desired, otherwise each cottage is separate and distinct each with its own waterfront.

Location

We are situated 3.5 hours north-east of Toronto and only 1.5 hours from Ottawa. A very tranquil setting but only 15 minutes from the great tourist attraction of Westport. Beaches are sandy and an ideal area for boating, fishing, swimming, cycling and walking. Golf is close at hand at several beautiful courses which are extremely reasonable. We are 2 km from the Burridge General Store and phone. We are 10 km from Westport Village.

Accommodation

The cottage sleeps 4 people comfortably. There are 3 small bedrooms with a high quality mattress in each (single, double and single mattress respectively).

Fully furnished with all kitchen utensils, stove, microwave, frost-free fridge and electrical appliances. Coin-operated laundry facilities are nearby. Linen and towels are optional. Electric heater and floor fan. Cable TV. Swimming in the lake. Boat mooring. Restaurants and boutiques in Westport plus a supermarket, liquor store, beer store and post office in Westport.

Additional Information

Short stays are possible outside of July and August. There is no charge for a babe-in-arms. $250 due upon booking, mostly refundable up to the last 30 days. Balance to be paid four weeks prior to vacation. Pets need special permission and no smoking within the cottage.
