The VillaBeautifully converted barn for self-catering holidays. Set among fields and wooded hillsides between the river Lot and the smaller river Célé, Les Pégouriés offers comfortable accommodation and a tranquil setting for holidays in what remains one of the most unspoilt and fascinating areas of France.
LocationLes Pégouriés is situated in the stunningly beautiful Lot Valley, in central south-west France. Midway between Cahors and Figeac, we are 10 km from Cajarc, a pretty riverside town on the Lot. We are between 10 and 12 hours drive from Calais or 9 to 10 hours from Caen, Le Havre or St Malo. Alternatively, you can fly to Rodez, just over 1 hour from us, or to Toulouse, a 2 hour drive. You can also travel by train to Figeac or Cahors, each 6 or 7 hours from Paris.
AccommodationLes Pégouriés was an abandoned farm, dating back to the end of the 18th century. We now live in the farmhouse, whilst the two large barns have been carefully converted and decorated to provide three self-catering gîtes with privacy, comfort and character. Each of our gîtes faces a different direction and is completely self-contained. All three are carpeted throughout with sisal matting or tiled, with rugs, and are simply decorated and well furnished. Each bathroom has a loo, shower and washbasin. Kitchen areas are well-equipped, and each has a full-size cooker and fridge. Each gîte has a grassed or paved area immediately outside together with barbecue and garden furniture for outdoor eating, and there are pleasant garden areas close by.
FacilitiesOccupying the whole upper floor of the larger barn, our largest gîte will sleep 6 to 8 people. The living area and master bedroom both retain their original timbers and magnificent roof space. There are three bedrooms, one double-bedded and two with twin or single beds, with a spacious living and eating area including a comfortable double sofa bed.
The glazed oak door opens on to a grassed area adjoining
a raised grass terrace with plum and fig trees. Beside the
gîte runs a large stone terrace, bordered by flowers and shrubs
and overlooking a 7.5 metre diameter pool. Families and groups
of friends can eat, sunbathe, splash in the pool or play table-tennis
here in peace and seclusion. The terrace overlooks fields
and woods to the north, while the gîte's dormer windows to
the south have very pleasant views of gardens and fields.
For year-round comfort, there's a large wood-burning stove, together with portable gas and electric heaters.

Additional Information
You will find plenty to do and see here. Les Pégouriés is
an ideal base from which to explore the Lot and Célé valleys,
where the rivers cut deep into the limestone, creating beautiful
and dramatic scenery. Villages cling to the cliffs, and traditional
farms still flourish, with their fields of tobacco, maize
and sunflowers.
The history and way of life of former generations are evident
in all you see, from the cave paintings of Peche Merle, the
nearby picturesque village of St Cirq-la-Popie, the chateaux
and the ancient places of worship, to the simple hamlets and
villages, the rolling cultivated land and the wild landscapes
beyond.
