The VillaThe Summer House is built on two acres of green hillside, high on the Vassilikos Peninsula, overlooking one of the prettiest parts of the island, with olive groves and gently rolling hills and a string of beautiful and varied beaches. The main house has exclusive use of the marbled pool terrace, from which to enjoy the stunning views of the sea below and the mainland beyond. The accommodation is airy and tranquil, not overlooked by any other properties, and offers peaceful seclusion from which to enjoy the spectacular setting.
Location
The Vassilikos Peninsula is at the south-eastern end of Zakynthos.
Away from, but easily accessible by car to, the commercial
resorts with their lively nightlife, water sports, and all
you would expect. Zakynthos Town is a wonderful mixture of
Venetian and typically Greek island architecture, offering
many restaurants, shops, museums and all other amenities,
including hospital, banks, post office, etc. Day trips by
boat are available to the mainland, Cephallonia and also to
more secluded beaches around the island. It's also possible
to go sailing.
The northern end of the island is mountainous and rugged,
and dotted with small villages less influenced by tourism.
The island has an excellent road network and is ideal for
walking excursions. From May till October, there are direct
flights to Zakynthos from most UK airports, and from Athens
throughout the year. The island can also be reached by ferry
from the mainland, with connections from Athens by coach.
Accommodation
The main house is entered via a covered patio next to the
garage. The door opens into a wonderful large, open-plan living/dining/kitchen
area, serviced by three sets of French doors opening onto
the magnificent marbled terrace surrounding the mosaic tiled
pool, with 10-seat marble dining table and other furniture.
Inside there are two seating areas, one with two single sofa-beds,
one with two doubles. A large dining table in the fully equipped
kitchen area can seat 10 people. The bathroom is also on this
level.
Three steps up from the living area is the air-conditioned
master suite, with a sunken two-head marble shower in the
en-suite bathroom. Upstairs are two double/twin bedrooms,
and a seating area, all with beautiful sea views. There is
an outdoor shower by the kitchen terrace next to the laundry
room with washing machine and ironing facilities. The interior
is white, with pine doors and shutters, wooden ceilings with
exposed beams and marble floors throughout, including the
terrace.
Facilities
The Summer House itself sleeps up to 12 people, but attached
there is also a studio and a
two bedroom apartment with accommodation for a further
9. These properties are listed separately, and each is designed
to function independently, but the three units can be rented
as a whole.
