Sympathetically renovated, the cottage retains its traditional cottage atmosphere with painted tin roof, stoep (verandah) and wooden window shutters. Akkerboom Kothuis now offers luxury self-catering accommodation in the beautiful Riebeek Valley, Western Cape, South Africa.

Akkerboom Kothuis is in the picturesque village of Riebeek Kasteel, which nestles at the foot of the Kasteelberg Mountain, in the beautiful Riebeek Valley, well-known for its fine wines and vineyards, olives and olive groves, table grapes and wheat fields. Just 70 km from Cape Town, the valley has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers (October to April) and mild winters with winter rainfall (May to September). So, whether you want to swim and relax by the pool in summer or snuggle up in front of the log fire in winter, Akkerboom Kothuis is the perfect all-year-round self catering destination. The village is only a 50-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport. Take the N7 to Malmesbury and follow the signs to Riebeek Kasteel and the beautiful Riebeek Valley.

Accommodation

The cottage sleeps four in three comfortable bedrooms, although we can accommodate five by special arrangement. Bedroom one has a Victorian double brass bed and en suite bathroom with roll top bath; bedroom two has two single beds; bedroom three has a three-quarter bed. The family bathroom has both a shower and bath.

The sitting room has a fireplace and French windows opening onto the stoep (verandah). The open-plan dining area has a stable door to the stoep and the fully equipped kitchen has a washing machine, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The stoep (verandah) overlooks the garden, planted with a variety of fruit and nut tress, is fully enclosed and offers complete privacy. Private parking. The property also has a swimming pool and purpose-built braai (BBQ) with shade from our vine. Duvets and 100% cotton bed linen and towels provided. Bed quilts provided for winter visitors.
