The Villa

There are two bedrooms, one double with small balcony, and one twin, plus clean modern bathroom with shower and a fully-equipped kitchen with ceramic hob, microwave, washing machine and fridge/freezer, toaster etc.

The lounge is light and airy, with space for dining and relaxing, and a small balcony which looks out on to the pretty Plazoleta.

At the top of the house is an attractive roof terrace, complete with table, chairs, and barbecue facilities. With magnificent views to the coast (and north Africa on a very clear day) as well as the surrounding mountains, this is an ideal place for watching the sun go down.

Location

Reached via country roads, through herb-scented hillsides, the village, with its jumble of white houses, lies just 10 kilometres from the coast, yet is still deliciously rural. The feel is essentially Spanish with a welcome sprinkling of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as several grocers and bakeries and shops selling wine, antiques, ceramics and local honey.

Local facilities include horse riding, swimming, hang gliding, tennis, a newly built outdoor local swimming pool/ restaurant with kiddies' pool (5 minutes from the Blue House) and numerous water sports on the coast. There is a good selection of shops and restaurants, 3 banks, agents for excursions, etc., and a small Saturday market.

From Competa there are many country walks – especially lovely when the spring flowers are in bloom – to the nearby villages as well as the National Park, which borders the village. Skiing can be enjoyed in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, only 1.5 hours drive away.

Less than 30 minutes away are the coastal resorts of Torrox Costa, Nerja and Torre del Mar, offering fine beaches, markets and many more bars, restaurants and shops. Granada is a short drive away, where a visit to the Alhambra is not to be missed.

Accommodation

This traditional village house maintains many of its original features, including ornate wrought-iron work and beautiful antique mosaic floors. It is situated in the central part of the village, in the "Plazoleta", just 2 minutes walk from the main Plaza, with access by car to the property, and ample car parking space nearby.
